Budapest, Hungary

The Trafó House of Contemporary Art is, in its own words: an institution, a building, a place, a medium, an intellectual adventure, a risk, a possibility. Once the main power station for south Pest, today Trafó energizes a generation of young artists, much in the spirit of the famed Young Artists’ Club from which it derives. Dance, because it is the least developed of the contemporary arts in Hungary, has a special place in the art center’s multidisciplinary activity. As part of Départs, Trafó is able to broaden the aesthetic diversity of dance presentations in Budapest and provide training opportunities for choreographers and dancers in partnership with the Workshop Foundation.
